Dialogue Series on Leadership and Development- Justice Torkornoo

The Intelligent Lady Network held a Dialogue Series in November 2020 with Justice Gertrude Torkornoo on leadership and professional development. This event was hosted by the ably founder of the Network, Princess Sekyere via zoom. The dialogue series is conversations with Super Intelligent Women who are successful in their various fields of business and or leadership. Participants get to interact and learn from these women while they share their stories.

Justice Torkornoo is a Justice of the Supreme Court and the supervising judge for the Commercial Courts of Ghana. She has an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from Golden Gate University, San Francisco as well as a PGD in International Law and Organizations for Development from the Institute of Social Studies (now part of Erasmus University) in The Hague.

She serves on the board of the Judicial Training Institute and as a faculty member in Judicial Ethics, Case Management, Courtroom Communication, and Commercial Law.

She chairs and serves on several administrative committees of the Judicial Service with her favourite being the Chief Editor of The Bench, an annual magazine of the Association of Magistrates and Judges of Ghana. She is also a Commissioner of the Law Reform Commission of Ghana.

In 2015, she received the Ghana Women of Excellence Award on Judicial Integrity. She was made an honorary Fellow of the Ghana Institute of Construction in 2016 for her contributions to the construction industry.

Justice Torkornoo is the author of five books – two on poetry and three on the law. In Ministry, she is an executive board member of Aglow International in Tema and Volta Regions, a board member of Theovision International, and a minister at ICGC Calvary Temple. She also serves on the Governing Council of Central University.

She is married to Mr Francis Torkornoo with 4 daughters and 3 grandchildren.
